“The plan is that the headquarters IT staff will use the new product for a few months to work the kinks out, then roll it out to the rest of the organization,” says fish.

“The Big Boss, who has been briefed on the new service, sends my boss an email: ‘I tried the new service and it wouldn’t work for me.’

“My boss dutifully directs me to investigate the problem.

“Roger, boss. But my initial hypothesis is that the product is only available to the headquarters IT staff for testing. And since the Big Boss is not on the headquarters IT staff…”
