Samsung’s new Galaxy A8 is the company’s slimmest smartphone.

It’s only headed to China for now, but it illustrates how seriously Samsung takes hardware and design quality. The all-metal device is 5.9mm thin and weighs just 5.3 oz. with a phablet-sized 5.7-inch, 1080p display.

Other internals include an 8-core Snapdragon 615 chipset, a 16-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera and a 5-megapixel f/1.9 front cam.

According to Samsung’s official product page the bezel is practically nil on the sides, a feat that could prove useful for upcoming phones. Thin-and-light is usually an accomplishment belonging to Apple devices, so if Samsung can continue to impress, it could gain a stronger foothold in the Android world.
