Flashback to the late 1990s, when the company where this pilot fish works is finally making the move to PCs — and a few employees aren’t clear on how this stuff works.

“One user’s CRT monitor failed, and she was in a panic because she had to key in the payroll that morning,” says fish. “I told her, no problem, I’d go get the monitor at the desk of her co-worker who was on vacation for several days, and she could use it while I got a replacement.

“As I was installing the loaner, she was concerned about the fact she didn’t know the other woman’s password, which she would now need to log into the system since she now had her friend’s monitor.
