When the Department of Defence’s new chief information officer, Peter Lawrence, assumes the position on Monday morning he will have oversight of two data centres, 200 data rooms, almost 3,000 applications, 110,000 workstations and 55,000 separate Access databases – along with a freshly announced $63 million deal with Oracle.
